About Us
Aviation Explorer Post 9
The Aviation Explorer Post 9 is a career exploration division of the Scouts of America, focused on immersing youth into the world of aviation. We meet the first and third Mondays of each month, at 7:30, in the Chicago Executive Airport office located at 1020 Plant Rd, Wheeling, IL 60090. We are open to anyone in high school, interested in aviation.
Our Story
Post 9 was started back in 1995 by Doug Powers, former air-traffic controller and corporate pilot, who is now an advisor of the post. Since then, we have had many alumni of our post graduate to become pilots, aircraft mechanics, air traffic controllers and many more desirable jobs in the aviation industry!
